After seeing his team start the season with a 2-7 record, Washington Wizards‘ center Marcin Gortat did not hold back in calling out his teammates who he thinks have contributed to their woes.

The 7-foot Polish international made it known publicly what he thinks of their bench players especially after the lack of production the Wizards have gotten from them so far.

Washington added key pieces to their roster last summer with the hopes of making noise in the Eastern Conference this year. But even with Trey Burke, Jason Smith, Ian Mahinmi and Andrew Nicholson part of their lineup now, the team still has a dismal nine-game record.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that no one from their second unit has averaged more than 5.3 points off the bench. Gortat spoke about it and made it clear that it's something the role players need to work on and that he and the starters do not plan to get used to it.

“We can't get used to it. We can't get comfortable with that. We've got to do something about that right now. It's not fun anymore.”

It will be interesting how the bench players will respond to Gortat's statements. He hopes it will serve as a wake-up call for them to give their best and help the team's cause. If the Wizards don't start winning soon, they'll be in danger of digging themselves a hole too deep for them to get out of.
