The Washington Wizards seemed destined for yet another mediocre season through the first month and change into the 2016-17 campaign, but a new-found attitude and mentality tapped into the mantra of what they needed to remain as one of the four best teams in the East.

Forward Markieff Morris was ultimately responsible for this change, taking after characters of 90's rap music and transferring them into the spirit of the team, soon creating the trendy hashtag #DeathRowDC.

Morris would name his teammates according to the members of the legendary label, Tupac Shakur for John Wall, likely the craziest of them all, Dr. Dre for Bradley Beal “because there is no Death Row without Dr. Dre,” Beal said according to Michael Lee of The Vertical.

The twin would go by Snoop Dogg because of his often mellow demeanor that can snap in an instant.

“It’s just funny. We have a lot of fun on this team,” Wall said about his nickname. “Kieff came up with that and we’re just rolling with it. This is the mob. We got the mob.”

So how about Suge Knight?

That'd be the team's security guard, David Best, who was a former college basketball player, known to sports a beard and a nearly-shaved head at times.

As the hashtag took traction on media circles, so did the Wizards' wins throughout the season, reaching as high as second place in the East, and going toe-to-toe with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were favorites to take the conference outright from the start of the preseason.

“It was just the realization that we weren’t the team that we knew we were capable of being,” Beal said. “We didn’t give up on it. We stayed with it and we’re confident in who we are.”

The Philadelphia native's sense of brotherhood is one of the key elements that has fortified this Washington team into what it is today and a huge part of why many experts favor them to reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

If the Wizards can keep racking up the wins the same way Death Row racked up money during the 90's, it won't be long before we see them testing one of their rivals at some point next month.
