Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett make up the best tight end duo in the NFL, and they have no shortage of nicknames to go by.
We all know that Rob goes by “Gronk.” A little lesser known is Bennett running with the “black unicorn” moniker.
Before the season began, they began brainstorming tandem nicknames. Martellus suggested “Ken and Ryu” from Street Fighter, but Gronkowski's “Ebony and Ivory” idea won out.
After an impressive victory over the Steelers on Monday, Bennett revealed his latest nickname idea. Inspired by the classic “Lethal Weapons” films, Marty titled his latest Instagram post, “Roger Murtaugh & Martin Riggs.”
Regardless of the names that they go by, Bennett and Gronkowski make up a formidable challenge for opponents. As long as they're healthy, these monsters will continue to own the middle of the field. Having Tom Brady sling them the ball helps, too.
