The Dallas Mavericks fear guard Jalen Brunson has a torn labrum in his right shoulder, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

Brunson, who is left handed, plans to return at some point and play in the remainder of the regular season, but offseason surgery is a possibility:

Brunson has appeared in 57 games for the Mavs this season. He's averaging 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 46.6 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The Mavs are 36-23 on the season. They are in seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

Barring a late season collapse, the Mavs appear on their way to making the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Basketball fans are anxious to see rising superstar Luka Doncic on the NBA’s biggest stage.
