Chicago Bulls point guard Michael Carter-Williams has suffered a sprained left knee in the first half of their 118-88 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

The team's new acquisition only played five minutes before exiting to the locker room under his own power, after staying on the floor for almost a minute to recover from the hit.

Carter-Williams is set to undergo an MRI on Tuesday to confirm the original diagnosis. He was originally acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks earlier in the month in a deal that sent shooting guard Tony Snell to Milwaukee.

If he does miss any time, it will open up an opportunity for offseason acquisition Isaiah Canaan, who has impressed in limited stretches the past two games.

Canaan made the most of his 22 minutes on the floor, making 5-of-7 shots, including 3-of-4 from deep on his way to 15 points and six assists.

While Rajon Rondo will garner the majority of minutes as the starting point guard, Canaan can complement the position, providing the perimeter shooting the team so badly needs, without letting up in aggression or defensive effort.
