Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo has been fined $25,000 for trying to trip Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder while sitting on the bench during Game 3 of their first-round series.

Here is the play in question:

After the game, Rondo was asked about the incident and claimed that as someone who has torn his ACL in the past, he was simply stretching.

The NBA clearly does not believe Rondo.

Rondo will miss the next few weeks at least with a fractured thumb. His resurgence down the stretch this season and in the first two games of the series made it really look like the Bulls had a great chance to upset the top-seeded Celtics. The tables are turning now however with Rondo out.
