The series between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls was expected to be a hotly contested one, especially during the first game, when Isaiah Thomas played with a heavy heart following the death of his sister in a car crash. It did not take long for tempers to escalate, as the 5-foot-9 guard and Robin Lopez got entangled within the first two minutes of the game.

Thomas hit the Bulls' center with his elbow which resulted in a technical foul charged against him. The NBA then reviewed the incident and concluded that it should not have been a technical, and they have since rescinded it.

With the C's now facing an uphill battle versus the eighth seeds, they will need Thomas to play in all of their games and lead them to a comeback. With the technical foul now cancelled, it moves the 28-year-old Washington product further away from his 16th of the season, which would be an automatic suspension.

The series will now head to Chicago for Games 3 and 4, and the C's will have the unenviable task of stealing at least one game in The Windy City, to assure them that they will play another game inside TD Garden. However, with Thomas leading the charge, the team will definitely have a fighting chance to turn around their fortunes and still make it to the second round.
