The new Collective Bargaining Agreement added an unexpected twist to an ongoing story.

Chris Bosh‘s battle with both blood clots and the Miami Heat may get one last look.

According to Bleacher Report's Howard Beck, the league will form an independent medical panel which will have the final word on life and death cases.

Due to the fact that Bosh's situation happened before the new agreement was in place, a re-evaluation isn't guaranteed.

The panel will be called upon by the NBA or the NBPA to make recommendations in neutrality.

If the player's life is deemed in danger,  it will recommend the player is prevented from playing any further. In the event there is no life-threatening illness, teams will be asked to release the player to perform his duties or trade him.

Bosh, dealing with his third case of blood-clotting has made the decision to not attempt a comeback until next season. He is on the Heat's books until 2019 but may be waived in February under a medical exception.
