Despite feud last season between Nick Young and D’Angelo Russell, the two sides have put their differences aside this season and played well for the Los Angeles Lakers. The duo came up big in last night’s victory over the Denver Nuggets.
After having one of his best all around games this season, Young gave a lot of credit to the 20-year-old Ohio State product via Harrison Faigen of SB Nation as he assisted on seven of his nine made shots and even called their win, ‘D’Angelo Russell Night.’
“Shout out D’Angelo Russell. Shout out D’Angelo Russell. It was all D’Angelo Russell today. Shoutout to my man, D’Angelo Russell.”
“It was ‘D’Angelo Russell Night,’ it was ‘Russell Night’ tonight. D’Angelo Russell was sharing the ball, made big plays.”
Russell did not take all the credit as he also thanked his teammates for making his job easy by converting their field goal attempts after passing to them.
“It’s hard to be a point guard, especially playing with a young team. They made it easy for me tonight.”
This is certainly positive news for the Lakers as their starting backcourt is showing that they are moving on from that feud in the right direction. It’s also a good sign as it helps keep their hopes of making the playoffs alive despite only winning 17 games so far this season. If the two continue to play like the way they did on Tuesday, it makes it easier for the team to develop as grow as a collective unit.
