Oklahoma City must be truly gasping in horror at the state of their franchise in the past 24 hours. The first star in this newly born NBA town, 2013-14 MVP Kevin Durant, only just deserted his old team for Steve Kerr and Jerry West's Golden State Warriors. Now, several rumors report that the Thunder front office might ultimately ‘blow up' the roster, consequently trading away other franchise superstar Russell Westbrook before he can leave as an unrestricted free agent next summer.

In just a span of a day and a half, the Thunder go from one-game away in the NBA finals to a rebuilding roster, a trajectory still shaking the entire state of Oklahoma. If general manager Sam Presti does indeed want to sell Westbrook, in order to at least ensure that they receive something in return, the 5-time all-star will have no shortage of suitors around the league. So, if Westbrook is to leave, here are some potential trades that can work out, even for the Thunder:

Thunder send Russell Westbrook, Anthony Morrow/ Boston send Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart, and 2018 Nets 1st round pick

While the green giants will only receive two 1-year player contracts in return for a core of their strong, deep roster, Boston and head coach Brad Stevens knows that they still lack a strong superstar to return the Celtics to their franchise glory. Russell Westbrook would fit in perfect off-the-ball complementing point guard Isaiah Thomas, and Westbrook would not only go to a championship franchise but would also fill the new franchise icon slot. Plus, a Westbrook-Horford combination would be extremely tantalizing not only to Boston fans.

Thunder, on the other hand, benefit from this trade by receiving a couple roster players who have shown to be competitive in the first and second round of the playoffs. With shooting guard Victor Oladipo now a prominent player on this roster, a couple above average players would definitely keep this franchise afloat in a tough Western Conference. These long-term contracts that the Thunder receive ensure that they have a roster capable to build on, instead of sliding into a full emergency rebuilding mode.

If Presti and his front office aren't feeling positive they are getting an equal share of assets, then Oklahoma might demand the Nets first round pick acquired from the Paul Pierce trade a couple years ago. Either way, both teams seem very compatible in wants and assets to be traded, so many around the league wouldn't be surprised if negotiations can't traction throughout the season.

Thunder send Russell Westbrook/ Atlanta Hawks send Dennis Schröder, Paul Millsap, 2017 first round pick

The Atlanta Hawks seemed to be in a rebuilding situation when superstar center Al Horford signed with the Boston Celtics during this free agency period. Yet, with the addition of ex all-star center Dwight Howard, resigning of point guard Kent Bazemore, and a potential Westbrook acquisition, the Atlanta Hawks could be a dominant roster in the weaker Eastern conference. Westbrook would be given the franchise role once again, and he could definitely elevate head coach Mike Budenholzer‘s roster.

Oklahoma City would once again receive quantity over quality, but both Schröder and Millsap would bring better depth to this Thunder lineup. While Presti would be trading away a superstar, the fear of losing him to free agency and resulting empty-handed once again could catalyze negotiations.

How heavy Presti prioritizes draft picks from any contract negotiation will be somewhat telling of the direction that the Thunder want to push. If Oklahoma City's front office really want draft picks, maybe the Western Conference finalists are setting a net for a rebuilding situation.

Oklahoma City send Russell Westbrook, Anthony Morrow/ Minnesota Timberwolves send Zach LaVine, Ricky Rubio, Shabazz Muhammed

Here, the Thunder receive potential in addition to veteran quality. Rubio would provide a direct replacement for Westbrook in the starting point guard position, and although Rubio compares little to Westbrook's offensive capabilities, the Spanish point guard could definitely keep this Oklahoma franchise afloat and complement a bigger Steven Adams. LaVine also provides room for potential in the Thunder franchise, with the 2-time dunk champion coming off an improved points per game average and field goal percentage this season.

The Timberwolves would then have a playoff ready lineup lead by quick point guard Russell Westbrook. The Wolves would surround Westbrook with other amazing athletes small forward Andrew Wiggins and center Karl-Anthony Towns. This lineup, if worked to perfection by newly signed head coach Tom Thibodeau, could be a competitor in the strong Western Conference.

Oklahoma City send Russell Westbrook/Washington Wizards send John Wall, 2017 first round pick

This would service more as a direct replacement for the Thunder who would receive a great defensive point guard in addition to a first round pick in exchange for a risky contract in Westbrook. While Westbrook obviously has the upper-hand in terms of capabilities, Wall has been a superstar throughout his career as well as proven that he can lead a team to success in the association.

The Wizards would receive an offensive powerhouse in Westbrook through this trade, and if the Wizards can find another mediocre big man, then this team could truly be competitive in the one-horse race that is the Eastern conference. Either way, the Wizards, like all the other teams in the league, are learning more and more that it's hard not to say yes to Westbrook, despite his looming free agency.
