Despite already having played 14 games this season, excluding the series of exhibition games last month, it is quite strange finding out that Sacramento Kings‘ wingman Omri Casspi and his head coach, Dave Joerger, have not talked for more than a month now.

That is certainly the case according to the 28-year-old Israeli international, when he spoke recently about not getting any explanation on his numerous DNP-CD's so far this year.

“We haven't talked since preseason.”

After enjoying a career year last season under George Karl, with averages of 11.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 27.2 minutes per game, it was expected that Casspi has earned his spot in the team's rotation and will regularly get his fair share of playing time.

However, that has not been the case so far as Joerger has opted not to play him in eight games and is not looking to change that anytime soon. The 42-year-old bench boss made it clear that he will not give away the minutes of Rudy Gay to Casspi despite his recent struggles.

“You want me to give him some of Rudy's minutes? Yeah, that's not happening.”

Even if rumors have swirled that the team is finding an interested partner for a possible trade involving him, Casspi has remained with the Kings and also clarified recently that he has not demanded to be moved by the franchise. Still, being in his coach's dog house is not where he imagined himself to be at after a promising season a year ago.

Only time can tell if his decision will be the same of not asking his team to trade him.
