The New Orleans Pelicans believe their talisman forward Anthony Davis will be ready to return from his ankle injury in time for their opening night when they host the Denver Nuggets on Wed. Oct. 26, league sources told ESPN.

The team is planning to have Davis in the starting lineup and will likely give him a go in their preseason finale against the Orlando Magic on Thursday night.

The 6-foot-10 forward went through practice unscathed on Wednesday, a sign that encouraged the coaching staff into the possibility of him starting the season in the lineup.

Anthony Davis averaged 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and two blocks per game last season and his production will be much needed in a Pelicans roster that is still trying to put the pieces together.
