The New Orleans Pelicans will be welcoming the 2016-2017 season limping as their projected starting backcourt will not be with the team.

Tyreke Evans has December penned as a target return, while Jrue Holiday is out indefinitely to tend to family matters.

This leaves Tim Frazier and Langston Galloway alternating at the one position. While both players have shown promising runs last year, neither of them are viable options for the long term.

According to John Reid of NOLA.com, the team has signed former Duke point guard Quinn Cook.

With no timetable on Jrue Holiday's return, the New Orleans Pelicans signed former Duke point guard Quinn Cook on Saturday. Cook attended the Pelicans' opening training camp practice on Saturday morning, but he did not participate.

Cook went undrafted in 2015. He played in the D-League for the Canton Charge and eventually won Rookie of the Year award. He figures to be a solid glue guy in the future, but right now, he’ll have to learn as much as he can and have himself ready for that legitimate shot at finally cracking an NBA roster.
