The Oakland Raiders were extremely highly rated coming into this season.  That was until they gave up the most yards allowed since 1940 (1035 yards) in Weeks 1 and 2.

In their defense, they were put up against two gunslingers, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan. Still, that's not a good excuse with the raw talent they have on the defensive side.  They should be tormenting them the entire game.

Here's NFL media analyst Bucky Brooks' take on the Raiders:

Now, I know two games don't make a season, but teams will exploit vulnerabilities that show up on tape — and Oakland's defense has been completely exposed by a pair of NFC South offenses. The unit has surrendered big plays at an alarming rate, as evidenced by the fact that the Raiders are yielding an astounding 8.02 yards per play. While the run defense has been spotty at best, the Raiders have repeatedly failed to keep things in front of them. The secondary, in particular, has allowed the ball to fly over the top — Oakland has yielded five passing plays of 40-plus yards.

Derek Carr did what he could, but he was not always getting the protection he needed.  That will definitely be a focal point of their upcoming practices because it was embarrassing to see the lack of protection. The Raiders came in highly rated, but they will not maintain such a high rating if they play the same way.

It's one thing to get it done against the Titans; we'll see if Oakland can continue to pick their play up moving forward.
