Patrick Patterson came into his own in the NBA as a member of the Toronto Raptors. As a result, it should come as no surprise that the veteran big man is unapologetic about rooting against the two-time defending champions in the Finals.

In an interview with Brady Trantham of The Franchise, Patterson, now with the Oklahoma City Thunder, explained why he's so comfortable publicly cheering on the Raptors as they face the Golden State Warriors with the Larry O'Brien Trophy on the line.

“I let it be known on social media,” Patterson said of his Raptors allegiance. “I’m not afraid to support them just because I have no ill-will those guys on the team. We are all still in touch, I still talk to them. I love the city, the fans are amazing, the food is great. So I have no problems towards them. I would love to see them win. Not only for the guys on the team who I’m still close to, but for the people of the city of Toronto.”

The University of Kentucky product was selected by the Houston Rockets with the 14th overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. After failing to make much of an impact over his first two and-a-half seasons with the Rockets, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings midway through the 2013 season. Less than a year later, Patterson was on the move again, this time to Toronto, where he spent the next four seasons and came into his own as a versatile defender with workable three-point range.

Patterson has struggled to stay healthy in recent years, though, causing him to underachieve during his time with the Thunder.
