When Reggie Bush came into the NFL, he immediately made his mark as an explosive offensive threat. Now, just a decade later, he's on the verge of setting a disastrous NFL record.

Behind starting running back LeSean McCoy and second-stringer Mike Gillislee, Bush only has 12 rushing attempts this season. With those carries, Bush has compiled a whopping -3 yards.

Heading into last weekend's game against the Miami Dolphins, Bush was sitting on a measly five yards, but at least he was in positive territory.

With both runners ahead of him on the depth chart gassed, Bush was finally inserted into the lineup for his first carry in overtime. At Miami's 19-yard line, Bush had a chance to find the end zone and deliver Buffalo a win.

Instead, he literally ran backwards away from closing defenders, finding himself eight yards behind the line of scrimmage before going down.

Two plays later, Dan Carpenter‘s 45-yard field goal went just wide, and the Dolphins later scored to clinch a playoff berth.

Now, Bush is in danger of setting one of the more unenviable records that the NFL has.

From Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune:

If Reggie Bush fails to rush for 3 yards vs. NYJ, he’ll become 1st NFL RB to finish a season with negative rushing yardage with 10+ carries.

At least he has 90 yards on seven receptions, so his total yards are above zero.

Interestingly enough, Bush does have a rushing touchdown, which will look quite amusing next to a negative rushing total should he finish that way. For Reggie's sake, hopefully he'll get a number of carries this weekend against New York and find himself on the right side of the number line.
