Now there is a report that Derrick Rose may also be a name coming up in trade discussions as we approach next week’s trade deadline.
Multiple teams view Rose as a potential trade target, according to league sources.
It would be surprising if the Knicks didn’t get calls about Rose as the deadline approaches. He has struggled on defense and hasn’t distributed the ball well, but he has shown that he’s again one of the best lane penetrators in the NBA.
Rose will be a free agent in the summer which naturally makes him plausible when it comes to any trade ideas. He has said before that he will seek a max contract in the summer and now has backtracked saying that money is not a motivator for his future, and he just wants to focus on playing and playing well.
The Knicks have struggled this season and Rose is still far from his old self, but as the report suggests he does still posses some traits teams may find attractive.
Rose makes over $21 million this season so it could be tricky to find a trade partner due to that alone. But being an expiring deal does make his trade value higher than usual for someone making that much.
