The Chicago Bulls have suspended point guard Rajon Rondo for one game after he and a team assistant had a “heated exchange” after Saturday's 107-82 blowout loss to the bottom-dwelling Dallas Mavericks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Rondo will sit out against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. He reportedly later apologized and accepted responsibility for his actions since the incident occurred.

The mercurial floor general has had a very inconsistent stretch for the Bulls, putting up a clutch triple-double in the Bulls win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but tallying a mere two-point, two-assist effort against the four-win Mavs.

Frustration has clearly gotten to Rondo, who was coming off one of the best years of his career with the Sacramento Kings last season.

He's averaging 8.2 points. 6.7 rebounds, and 7.2 assists on the season, shooting 39 percent from the floor and 33 percent from deep for the 11-8 Bulls.
