Oh, Zach Randolph.

“Head-scratching antics” is certainly one way to describe the Memphis Grizzlies power forward's career. He's always providing fans with humorous quotes, sometimes entertaining decision-making on the court, and now, we're given another classic anecdote from Randolph's rookie season, courtesy of Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr.

From Diamond Leung's reporting for Inside the Warriors:

“How much time do we get off for Christmas?” Kerr said the Grizzlies forward once asked. “He didn’t know. He was just the sweetest, nicest kid.  He had no clue. He was so talented, and he was a joy to play with as you see now.”

This is a story that just makes you love Randolph. What an innocent, naive question to ask a veteran.

How could he have not known? The NBA owns Christmas now but it wasn't quite as big of a deal back then. You wonder too if he had to build up the courage to ask Kerr. Maybe a family member wanted Randolph to ask someone about it. So much like a little kid in every way.

Kerr is the perfect guy to receive a question like this and then relay the story to us now. Witty and respectful, and with a great sense of humor.

As always, and in particular this morning, enjoy a laugh with Zach Randolph story time.
