With bowl season officially underway, plenty of must-watch college football is on tap over the next two weeks. Even the most die-hard fan can get lost in the hustle and bustle of 40 games, so TicketIQ is here to break down the “studs and duds” of this year’s bowl games.

We’ll look at which games are posting the biggest resale ticket demand and which come dangerously close to hanging a “free” sign outside the front gates.

Studs: Rose Bowl, Peach Bowl, Orange Bowl

Perhaps surprisingly, it won’t be this year’s College Football Playoff Semifinal games posting the highest resale ticket prices. That honor belongs to the Rose Bowl, which pens USC and Penn State in a 2009 rematch in Pasadena. The Peach Bowl Semifinal between No.1 Alabama and No.4 Washington follows well behind, while the Orange Bowl game between Michigan and Florida State is the third most expensive bowl game.

Rose Bowl: USC vs. Penn State | Average Resale Price: $670 | Get-in Price: $275

Expectations are high in Southern California for this year’s Rose Bowl, as USC and Penn State each make their first appearance in the game in seven years. It will be the most expensive bowl game to attend at an average resale price of $670 and a $275 get-in price. Fans traveling from out of town can find the cheapest hotels on Priceline.com, where hotels start from just $96 per night in Pasadena.

Peach Bowl: Alabama vs. Washington (Georgia Dome) | Average Resale Price: $397 | Get-in Price: $191

Headed to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl this season? If so, prepare for costly resale ticket prices. With Alabama looking to clinch a second straight championship game berth, Peach Bowl tickets own a $397 average. The cheapest tickets are listed from $191 each. ‘Bama Nation will travel strong for the Georgia-based game, and their proximity (along with the Tide’s perfect 13-0 record) is likely driving demand. Atlanta hotels can be found from $89 per night on Priceline.com.

Orange Bowl: Michigan vs. Florida State (Hard Rock Stadium) | Average Resale Price: $316 | Get-in Price: $111

Michigan’s losses to Iowa and Ohio State down the stretch certainly didn’t help their playoff ranking after such a strong start, but it appears that they won’t need a CFP game to generate huge ticket prices this bowl season. They’ll take on Florida State in the Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium, where tickets own a $316 average and the get-in price is $111. It will be the Wolverines’ second consecutive appearance in a Florida-based bowl after taking down Florida in the Citrus Bowl last season. Hotels in Miami will be the most expensive of any bowl game on Priceline.com this season, starting at $154 per night.

Duds: Independence Bowl, Foster Farms Bowl, Military Bowl

Independence Bowl: NC State vs. Vanderbilt (Independence Stadium) | Average Resale Price: $21 | Get-in Price: $3

While several bowl games are commanding massive resale ticket demand, there are just as many – if not more – that will only cost a few dollars to get into. TicketIQ’s first annual “Toilet Bowl” Award, an honor given to the cheapest bowl game, goes to the Independence Bowl this season. The Shreveport, Louisiana game will see North Carolina State battle Vanderbilt on December 26, where tickets own a $21 average and the get-in price is a mere $3. Hotels in Shreveport begin at $56 per night.

Foster Farms Bowl: Indiana vs. Utah (Levi’s Stadium) | Average Resale Price: $41 | Get-in Price: $8

There hasn’t been much for football fans to be excited about in Santa Clara this season with the San Francisco 49ers stumbling to a paltry 1-13 record. Perhaps the tide will turn next week, as this year’s Foster Farms Bowl will be hosted by Levi’s Stadium. Fans can find relatively cheap prices to see Indiana and Utah clash, with tickets averaging $41 and the cheapest listed at $8 each. Santa Clara hotels on Priceline.com are priced from $56 each.

Military Bowl: Temple vs. Wake Forest (Memorial Stadium) | Average Resale Price: $43 | Get-in Price: $30

Annapolis will be the hosting site of the third cheapest bowl game this season. This year’s Military Bowl will pen Temple and Wake Forest at Memorial Stadium, where the average resale price for tickets is $43 and the cheapest tickets start from $30 each. It will be the cheapest Military Bowl since TicketIQ began tracking resale ticket data in 2010. Three-star hotels begin from $58 per night.
