It appears that Derrick Rose will get to make his Madison Square Garden debut on the same date as Joakim Noah.

Coincidentally, circumstances have prevented the two former Bulls teammates to play their first game together in Knickerbocker colors. Noah is currently nursing a hamstring injury while Rose’s ongoing trial for rape accusation have kept him away from the team lately.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News has the latest on the former Most Valuable Player:

The Knicks point guard missed Saturday’s preseason game against the Nets and, according to Jeff Hornacek, will also skip Monday’s contest because he’s in L.A. awaiting the resumption of his $21.5 million civil trial. It means the New York’s biggest summer acquisition won’t make his Garden debut until Oct. 15, at the earliest, when Joakim Noah is also projected to play for the first time.

$21.5 million should be enough reason for Rose to put forth all his attention in his legal problem at this stage.

The Knicks have planned for Rose to fly back-and-forth for games, but that no longer appears viable right now after the guard’s recent eye-opening testimony. The trial is expected to last until Friday, but if it goes past that target even by a day, the Knicks’ new starting point guard would be forced to make his debut at the Mecca of Basketball on October 29.
