San Antonio Spurs veteran small forward Rudy Gay becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer, but there's reportedly a good chance he'll come back to San Antonio.

According to Jabari Young of The Athletic, Gay is loved by his Spurs teammates and head coach Gregg Popovich. Young says it makes too much sense for the Spurs to bring Gay back.

And it’s like a 70% chance Rudy returns. I think it makes too much sense for him to return. They can pay him the most and he’s apart of their new culture. Pop likes him. Teammates love him.

Gay made $10,087,200 in 2018-19. It was his second season with the Spurs. The swingman played in 69 games during the regular season and averaged 13.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from beyond the arc and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.

In the playoffs, Gay put up 11.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists. The Spurs lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round in seven games. San Antonio will be kicking themselves all summer when they think about Game 2 of that series. They had a double-digit lead and were well on their way to taking a commanding 2-0 series lead before letting the Nuggets storm back in the fourth quarter.
