Any Alabama defensive player is attractive at the next level. The Crimson Tide could have eight players selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Trevon Diggs is one of the players on the cusp. Diggs has a chance to go from one storied program to another in Dallas. The Dallas Cowboys are in need of help in the secondary.

Their front seven is strong. Led by Demarcus Lawrence on the edge, the Cowboys have the ability to rush the passer. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch make up one of the best linebacking duos in the league when healthy. Whether it is cornerback or safety, Dallas could use a player who is ready to come in and make an impact in the secondary.

Diggs is that player. Dallas will be picking near the middle or bottom of the first round. Diggs will most likely be available for them and it would be a nice fit.

Diggs in Dallas?

Diggs is coming from one of the best collegiate programs in the nation. Alabama has a strong reputation of winning and producing NFL talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

At 6-foot-2, Diggs has good size to matchup with NFL receivers. If he is undersized, he makes up for it in speed and athleticism. Diggs showed his ability in press-man coverage. He can keep up with receivers and is an expert at using the sideline as an extra defender. Wherever Diggs lined up and in any formation, his game has a certain fluidity to it which makes him an attractive prospect.

Diggs seems like a good fit in Dallas because he is a player who can come in and play at a high level immediately. If the Cowboys want to get to a Super Bowl, they will need to build their defense up even more. Diggs will enter the draft as a top 30 prospect overall and could be one of the five best cornerbacks.

Dallas selected Byron Jones in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. It is likely that he will be gone after this season so the Cowboys will need to replenish. With their draft position, it is unlikely that Diggs will be available for them in the second round. He is a first round talent and should be worth it for the Cowboys. When it comes time to draft, they could be looking at the best available player in the secondary and it is hard to imagine Diggs will not be one of them.
