When the Sacramento Kings received Buddy Hield as part of the package the New Orleans Pelicans sent them in exchange for DeMarcus Cousins, one person who was extremely happy about it was their team owner, Vivek Ranadive.
It has not been a secret the the 59-year-old businessman is a huge fan of Hield and has very high expectations for him. Ranadive recently even went as far as saying that he thinks the sixth pick of the 2016 draft has the potential to become like Stephen Curry.
Although many may find it a stretch to compare Hield to the back-to-back MVP as early as now, he revealed that he was really wanted by the Kings owner, and he even told him personally that they were going to make a move for him during his last two games against the team, which goes to show how much Ranadive believes in his potential.
“Vivek always, every time — even the past two times — he always talk about, ‘We’re always pushing hard for you.’ He said, ‘We’re still going to get you.’ He kept saying that.
“I was surprised with him saying that, but now, when I saw I was going to Sacramento, I said, ‘Oh, these guys are really serious about me.’ I just kind of know they were determined about getting me.”

Now that he is playing for the Kings, the the 23-year-old Oklahoma product will get a chance to see a lot of playing time and be the focal point of their offense. The Sacramento faithful are hoping that what Ranadive saw in him will hold true and that he can live up to the hype placed on him.
Should he be successful in doing so, it won’t come as a surprise that Hield will emerge as one of the future stars in the NBA. More importantly for the team, they’ll have their new franchise player who they will rely on heavily to lead them to more wins, and even playoff appearances in the coming seasons.
