The deal that sent DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans has been making a lot of headlines lately especially about the team coming out as the big winner from the trade. They were able to add a legitimate star and one of the best big men in the league today while only giving up Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and a couple of future draft picks.
Source familiar w/ Kings’ thinking: "Vivek thinks Buddy [Hield] has Steph Curry potential.” Am told that fixation was a key driver in deal.

Although the sixth pick of this season’s draft made a name for himself in college as a good scorer and a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc, the 59-year-old TIBCO CEO may be stretching his expectations on Hield a little bit too far. The former Oklahoma Sooner is only averaging 8.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.4 minutes per game this year and has also shown a different skill set from Curry.
Ranadive’s high hopes for his new shooting guard has drawn a lot of reactions, including some hilarious ones that were posted on Twitter.
@BaxterHolmes poor Buddy might not even have Seth Curry potential

@BaxterHolmes That word "thinking"…I don't think you're using it correctly.

The Kings are expected to give Hield more playing time and will be one of their key pieces moving forward. With the extra run he’ll get, the team, as well as their fans, are hopeful he can live up to the hype and produce numbers close to what the Golden State Warriors guard was having during his early days in the league.
Should that happen still remains to be seen, but if Hield will be successful in doing so, not only will he make Ranadive look like a genius, he will also be able to increase his stock and may be regarded as one of the NBA’s future stars.
