DeMarcus Cousins has had quite a year with the Golden State Warriors thus far. He has successfully come back from a career-threatening Achilles injury, and has now established himself as a pivotal piece in the Warriors' three-peat-seeking side.

As it turns out, Cousins has also done a lot of growing up during his time with the Dubs, and is now set on moving on from his rather troublesome past. So much so, that he wants to rid himself of his moniker of “Boogie.”

“I don’t want to be Boogie,” Cousins says, via Lonnae O'Neal of The Undefeated. “I just wanna be DeMarcus.”

A year off will surely do a lot for one's psychological approach to the game, and for Cousins, it appears that he has emerged as a better man following an extended spell on the sidelines.

Being part of a star-studded team — wherein he must have had to check his ego time and time again — would have almost certainly had an impact on the 28-year-old as well. He is no longer the cornerstone superstar he once was with the Sacramento Kings, and somehow, this seems to have worked in his favor.

It's going to be a very interesting summer for Cousins with his one-year deal with the Warriors coming to an end. He will become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, and will be hoping that he has done enough this year to warrant another big-money deal for someone who was once one of the most dominant big men in the game.
