The college football season is slowly approaching as there are a little over three months until the season begins. Things will be looking a little bit different at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor this fall as alcohol will be available for purchase during Michigan football games this season. We knew this was coming as it started to happen at other Michigan events such as hockey and basketball last season, and now, alcohol will be sold during Wolverines football games.

Michigan football fans have been waiting for this news as it was initially approved last year, but it now officially has the green light for the 2024 college football season.

“ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Alcohol sales will begin this football season at Michigan Stadium, following the lead of in-state rival Michigan State and a trend of booze being made available at college sports venues across the nation,” A report from the Associated Press wrote. “The Michigan athletic department made the announcement Thursday following successful rollouts of alcohol sales at its hockey and basketball arenas. The university’s Board of Regents voted to implement a liquor license at the “Big House” starting with the Aug. 31 opener against Fresno State.”

The University of Michigan didn't encounter any issues with selling alcohol at basketball and hockey games last season, and they are now ready to take it to the Big House. Obviously, Michigan basketball and hockey games only hold a fraction of what Michigan Stadium holds, and the students are always at their rowdiest for football games, but let's be honest, this isn't going to change much for the students.

All legal-aged people that choose to purchase alcohol at Michigan football games this fall will be limited to two drinks.

We all know how expensive drinks can get at sporting event, so this should lead to a good revenue bump for Michigan. The Michigan athletic department is reportedly planning to use the money for operational expenses, and the university will also be using some of it to fund campus research projects.

The Michigan football season gets going on August 31st against Fresno State at home, and the game will be under the lights. That should be a fun one for Wolverines fans.
