The Yankees make the trip to Minnesota to face the Twins! These two teams have been playing well with each being the second and fourth best teams in the AL. Our MLB odds series has our Yankees-Twins prediction, odds, and pick for Tuesday.

The Yankees have come out of the gate extremely hot with a 27-15 record. They are the second-best team in the AL only behind the Orioles, who are also in the same division. Their bats are in the top 10 of the MLB in terms of overall quality. They are also second in the league in pitching behind only the Red Sox. The Yankees have been night and day different this season compared to last season. Juan Soto is a difference maker they added to go with quality sluggers in Anthony Rizzo, Aaron Judge, and Anthony Volpe. Then on the mound, Nestor Cortes, Marcus Stroman, Clarke Schmidt, and Carlos Rodon have all been varying degrees of good for the Yankees. The Yankees have been great, but have a tough matchup against the Twins in this spot, especially on the road.

The Twins have been on a hot streak recently and sit with a 24-16 record, thanks to them winning four out of their last five games. The Twins have been average on offense, ranking in the middle of the pack overall behind the plate. Their pitching has not been great and closer to the bottom of the league overall. Alex Kirilloff, Edouard Julien, Byron Buxton, Willi Castro, Carlos Santana, and Ryan Jeffers are some notable names on this Minnesota offense despite being around average. On the mound, Joe Ryan, Pablo Lopez, and Bailey Ober are the names to watch as standouts on a pitching staff that needs to play better. The Twins have been red-hot recently and seems like they are finally putting things together.

Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Yankees are starting Carlos Rodon on the mound where he has a 3-2 record, a 3,56 ERA, and a 1.26 WHIP. Rodon has allowed 18 runs on 40 hits with 14 walks and 43 strikeouts. He has appeared in eight games this season and the Yankees have gone 5-3 in those spots. In his last start, he pitched 6.1 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts in a Yankees win. Rodon has a good matchup against the Twins because their offense has not been anything special overall.

The biggest key for the Yankees is their offense, especially after how much they struggled last year. They are ranked eighth in the MLB in team batting average at .249 after finishing last season with a .227 batting average. Twelve total Yankees have hit at least one home run for a rejuvenated offense. Juan Soto has been the key, leading the way in most batting categories next to Aaron Judge. Soto leads the way in batting average at .314, in RBI at 34, in OBP at .414, and in total hits at 50. Judge then leads in home runs at 10. They get a decent matchup against Chris Paddack on the mound for the Twins because he has been inconsistent.

Why The Twins Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Twins are starting Chris Paddack on the mound where he has a 4-1 record, a 4.34 ERA, and a 1.50 WHIP. He has allowed 18 runs on 48 hits with eight walks and 37 strikeouts through 37.1 innings. The Twins are 6-1 in the seven games that he's appeared in this season so far. In his last start, he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing one run on eight hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts. Paddack has a tough matchup in this spot against an offense as good as the Yankees and all the firepower they have.

The offense for the Twins has been inconsistent, but average to start this season. They are 15th in the MLB in team-batting average at .240 after having a team-batting average of .243 last season where they finished 21st in the league. Willi Castro and Ryan Jeffers lead the way for the Twins in most of the batting categories. Jeffers leads the way in batting average at .292, in nine home runs, in RBI at 30, and in OBP at .371. Willi Castro leads the way in total hits at 27. They have a tough matchup in this spot against the Yankees and Carlos Rodon, who has been very good this season so far.

Final Yankees-Twins Prediction & Pick

The Twins are playing well, but the Yankees are the better and the more talented team. Carlos Rodon is the better pitcher than Chris Paddack and the Yankees have the bats to trust, while the Twins are not as trustworthy behind the plate. It will be a close game at firs, but expect the Yankees to go on the road and cover and win against the Twins.
