The Kansas City Chiefs seem to always be in the headlines nowadays. Kansas City has won two Super Bowls in a row, has the best QB in the league, and one of its players is dating arguably the most popular woman on the planet. Harrison Butker made headlines recently because of controversial comments made at a college commencement address. Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, shared her thoughts on social media.

“I’ve always encouraged my daughters to be highly educated and chase their dreams,” Tavia said in a post on Instagram. “I want them to know that they can do whatever they want (that honors God). But I also want them to know that I believe finding a spouse who loves and honors you as or before himself and raising a family together is one of the greatest blessings this world has to offer.”

Her post appears to be in response to conversation around Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker's controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College last weekend.

During the speech, Butker told the women he thought they’d had “the most diabolical lies” told to them.

“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you,” Butker said. “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”

Butker's speech also contained controversial comments on LGBTQ+ Pride month, diversity, and equity and inclusion.

“Studies show that committed, married couples with children are the happiest demographic, and this has been my experience as well,” Tavia said. “Affirming motherhood and praising your wife, as well as highlighting the sacrifice and dedication it takes to be a mother, is not bigoted.”

Butker also gave a commencement speech at Georgia Tech in 2023 that featured a controversial anecdote about mental health. Hunt endorsed that message on Instagram as well.

Previewing the 2024 NFL schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have been the kings of the NFL for the past two seasons, so it only makes sense that they have a gauntlet of a schedule in 2024.

The Chiefs drew the AFC North (Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Steelers) and NFC South (Buccaneers, Falcons, Panthers, Saints) to play round robin. Kansas City, and the rest of the AFC West, will play each team in those divisions on time during the regular season. The Chiefs will also face the first-place finishers in the AFC East (Bills) and AFC South (Texans).

Kansas City has one of the most diverse schedules in the league in 2024 with a huge number of nationally-televised games. In fact, the Chiefs will play on every day of the week except Tuesday at least one throughout the season. They manage this by playing a Black Friday game against the Raiders on Amazon Prime and being selected to play the Steelers on Christmas (a Wednesday). The Christmas game will stream exclusively on Netflix.

The Chiefs have their bye in Week 6. This is quite early in the season and could cause trouble for them if they suffer from injuries down the stretch.

Kansas City is set to make a push at a third Lombardi Trophy in as many years. It would be an NFL first.
