Why The Cubs Will Cover The Spread/Win

Shota Imanaga has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season. Not only is he at the top of the Rookie of the Year award list, but he can definitely be in the running for National League Cy Young, as well. He is 5-0 with a 1.08 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts to just five walks through seven starts this season. The Cubs are 7-0 in games Imanaga has started this season. If Imanaga can continue being the pitcher he is, the Cubs are going to win this game on the road.

The Cubs are a little bit better than league average at the plate. They draw a ton of walks, and they are seventh in the MLB in barrel percentage. Lopez is having a great season, so the Cubs have to stay locked in. The good news is the Cubs are hitting the ball well. They were able to get to Jared Jones and Paul Skenes on the Pittsburgh Pirates, so they should be able to have a good game against Lopez and the Braves.

Why The Braves Will Cover The Spread/Win

As mentioned, Reynaldo Lopez is off to a very good start. The best start of his career. Lopez has a 1.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and his K/9 is over 9.0. Lopez keeps hitters off the barrel, and he gets opposing teams to chase and whiff at his pitches. He also does a great job keeping the ball in the park. Lopez is showing no signs of slowing down, so expect him to continue his dominant streak in this game. If he can keep the Braves in the game, Atlanta will win.

The Braves have a fantastic offense. They are fourth in batting average, fifth in OPS, and they do a great job not striking out. Imanaga is having an incredible rookie season, but if there is any team that can get to him, it is the Braves. Atlanta can get hot at any given moment, and if they have one of their good games, it is going to be easy for the Braves to win this game.

Final Cubs-Braves Prediction & Pick

This is going to be a great game between two very good pitchers. Picking a winner for this one is not going to be easy. The Cubs are undefeated with Imanaga on the mound, but Lopez is constantly keeping the Braves in the game. For this one, I like the Cubs to continue winning with Imanaga on the mound. I will take Chicago's moneyline. If that is not something you are comfortable with, the under could also be a great play.
