The Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder went to battle on Saturday night in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals series, and it was the Mavs who prevailed with a 117-116 victory to eliminate the Thunder. As a result, Dallas now advances to the Western Conference Finals where they will play the winner of the Denver Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves Game 7 contest on Sunday.

For much of Game 6, things didn't look good for Dallas, as they faced a 17-point deficit early in the third quarter of this contest. But they managed to battle back and eventually win the game late in the fourth quarter, and after the final buzzer sounded, fans immediately took to social media to show just how excited they were to see their team come out victorious in this one.

The Thunder seemed set to run away with this game early in the second half, but the Mavericks had other plans. They stormed back into the game to keep the deficit at single digits for much of the fourth quarter, before they eventually took the lead late in the frame. Oklahoma City kept it close, and even took the lead back on the final possession before P.J. Washington was fouled on a three-point shot attempt with 2.5 seconds left in the game. He buried the first two before purposely missing the third, and that was the game.

Luka Doncic led the way with yet another triple-double (29 PTS, 10 REB, 10 AST, 9/15 FGM), but he received quite a bit of help from his supporting cast as well. Kyrie Irving and Derrick Jones Jr. both dropped 22 points, and Dereck Lively II chipped in 12 points and 15 rebounds as he led the game in plus/minus with a staggering +26 during his 29 minutes of action.

Now, the Mavericks will get to sit back and watch the Nuggets and Timberwolves go to war on Sunday in their Game 7 action. Both teams have looked very strong this postseason, and no matter who wins, Dallas will likely find themselves as the underdog in the series. After eliminating the Los Angeles Clippers and Thunder now in their first two series, though, the Mavs will understandably feel good about their chances of finding a way to make it through to the Finals.

When you pull off a pretty massive comeback to book your spot in the WCF, fans are going to be fired up, and boy were they ever after this game. Excitement surrounding Dallas is reaching an all-time high, and with their fans behind them, it's going to be tough to eliminate this team in a seven-game series. Fans can bask in their team's latest big win for now, but it won't be long before they turn their attention towards their next challenge in the WCF.
