The Memphis Grizzlies are an exciting team filled with young stars and proven veterans. Their season has gotten off to an impressive start, they've beaten the Los Angeles Clippers, the Golden State Warriors, and the Denver Nuggets. Three of the teams' early four wins are against championship contenders.
They've managed to do this without arguably their second-best player, Dillon Brooks. Desmond Bane has filled his role nicely and has continued to prove that he's going to be an elite all-around scorer. Jaren Jackson Jr is off to a slow start, but the team has picked up his slack. Once Jackson starts to figure it out and Brooks comes back, watch out for Memphis.
Everyone knows how good Ja Morant is. They knew he was someone who can score 22 points per game in a season. What Morant is doing in the first two weeks of the season is something most didn't expect. Ja Morant is playing like a top-10 player in basketball.

Morant is known for his flashy dunks and he's a fan favorite around the league because of that. He's an incredibly gifted athlete who can do it all on the basketball court. He has some injury history in his young career, but luckily for Ja and the Grizzlies, he's showing no signs of something still being wrong.
This season he's already top seven in both points per game, and assist per game. Morant is currently averaging 28.3 points per game and 7.7 assists per game. His PER is also the eighth-best in the league.
He's having career highs in shooting percentages and it's by a significant amount. Morant is shooting over 5% higher from the field and the three-point line.
The reason that Morant is the biggest surprise for this Grizzlies team, is because of all the questions that some may have had about him. People wondered if Ja Morant could be the number one option on a championship team. If his lack of three-point shooting is an issue for a guard. If he was going to come back and play at an elite level from his injury. Morant has put an end to these questions and is showing that he's a future MVP winner in this league.
On top of all his outstanding play, he's one of the hardest workers in the NBA and expects a lot out of himself. He showed his disappointment in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers where he missed a clutch free-throw that would've tied the game in the fourth quarter.
Morant is exactly what a team needs to win a championship.
Times are exciting in Memphis. There wouldn't be any wrong in saying the Grizzlies can do what the Phoenix Suns did last year. They have a top-10 player in Morant, as well as some key role pieces that will help add to their championship hopes. Memphis lost in the playoffs last year and they will try to do better than a season ago.
