The Atlanta Hawks are off to a little bit of a shaky start after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last season. Last season they shocked the world by making it to the Eastern Conference Finals They knocked out the number one seed, the Philadelphia 76ers.
They're currently 4-4 and just haven't been playing the basketball that they expect to be playing. Superstar Trae young has continued the stellar performances that he's shown throughout his career. They've also gotten some production from Cam Reddish, John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Clint Capela.
Cam Reddish was hurt for most of last season. He eventually came back in the NBA Playoffs during the Eastern Conference Finals. During that Series against the Milwaukee Bucks, he impressed. Reddish showed that he has All-Star potential in this league.
Because the Hawks have come to expect the type of production that they're going to get from Trae Young, Cam Reddish has been the most surprising player for this team so far.
The former Duke University standout is having a great year coming off of his injury. He's averaging 16 points per game and is adding 1.3 steals per game. Atlanta knew what they were getting when they drafted Cam Reddish. Not many people expected him to be this good after the injury that he had. Most people thought it was going to take some time for him to get settled back in. He's showing that he does not need any more time and that he's ready to take the next step in this league.
Reddish is an athletic player who can pretty much do anything on the floor. He's an above-average scorer who can score from anywhere on the court, and he also plays above-average defense.
Cam McMillan and the Hawks have to be ecstatic about what they've seen from this young man. If he can give them this type of play there's no debate that the Hawks can continue doing what they did in last year's playoffs. A team with Trae Young, John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela, Danilo Gallinari, and Veteran Lou Williams were already a tough team to play come playoff time. Now they add Cam Reddish who is undoubtedly making them better. This is going to be a huge piece for them come playoff time.
The Hawks are struggling in the early stage of this season, but there's nothing to be worried about if your Hawks fan. Coach McMillan will make sure that these guys start figuring it out and he showed that last year. He came in and became the head coach mid-season. When McMillan took over, the Hawks had the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Trae Young is made for the spotlight and you know that he's going to do everything he can to get his team back into a playoff spot. Last season really put the Hawks on the map. They are a young team who thinks that they belong with the top teams of the East. They proved that they were last year. They're going to look to do the same thing this year.
