The Arizona Cardinals showed promise this season but came up short of the playoffs. They finished the season 8-8 but showed the potential of the team for the future. Quarterback Kyler Murray broke out as he had 3,971 yards with 26 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 819 yards and 11 touchdowns on the year.

Murray has put the team in a spot to win now. His progression last season proved that the Cardinals will be a threat and they have a good shot this year. They were able to improve the roster in the off-season which has put the team in playoff contention.

In free agency, the Cardinals signed superstar defensive end J.J. Watt. He may not be the player he once was but he still makes a great impact on the pass rush. The Cardinals also made great moves in the draft as they took linebacker Zaven Collins in the first round. Collins should be an instant presence for the defense as he has great size and athleticism. In the second round, the Cardinals added to the offensive firepower by drafting speedy wide receiver Rondale Moore. Moore will be a great deep threat for the team and he will fit well in Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury’s scheme.

The Cardinals also signed an undrafted free agent who has a great shot at making the 2021 roster.

Tight End Cary Angeline

The Cardinals don’t have great depth at tight end and Cary Angeline would be a solid fit. Angeline is 6’6 and 250 pounds and has proven himself to be a great red zone threat. Last season showcased that Murray and the running backs will go read-option in the red zone but they could add another layer to the play with Angeline as a weapon.

Although he has lots of things to improve on he still would be a good fit for the team. He will need to work on his blocking but as far as receiving he is ready to go. Angeline will need to work on his route running as well but has many tools to be a solid tight end for the Cardinals. He has very underrated speed that allows him to get more yards after the catch. Angeline is also great at holding onto the ball even if a safety hits him hard.

Angeline may not be thought of as a player that would make the roster but he could add some much-needed depth at TE.

The Cardinals had a fantastic off-season and it has set them up for a great 2021 season. Murray is bound to continue his success and has even more firepower on offense now. The defensive side of the ball is much improved and the team should make a playoff run.

It will be tough for the Cardinals to make it to the playoffs but the talent is there. They are playing in a very hard division that includes the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks. All 4 of the teams in this division are highly talented and could make playoff runs. The Rams and Seahawks both made it last year while the 49ers made the Super Bowl just 2 seasons ago.

Angeline can emerge as a piece of the Cardinals’ offense.
