The Minnesota Vikings have done a solid job at generating a talented team to compete in the NFC North. They have impressive offensive weapons in Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook while the defense has slowly improved as well. Even so, this franchise could use a boost from its rookie class. For that reason, we take a look at one undrafted free agent who will make the Vikings' 2022 roster.

Minnesota signed nine undrafted free agents this offseason, giving the coaching staff plenty to work with throughout training camp. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, as there are plenty of opportunities for rookies to make an impact in the upcoming season. If that happens, the Vikings will be in a solid position to compete for the NFC North title.

There could be a legitimate chance for an undrafted free agent to make the defense. Considering the Vikings brought in 10 rookies for that side of the ball, Minnesota is aiming to get younger to improve their defense overall. Keep an eye on this rookie class as they could become major contributors over the next few years.

With that said, here is our one undrafted free agent to make the Vikings' 2022 roster.

Vikings Undrafted Free Agent To Make 2022 Roster

Mike Brown

Coming out of Miami (Ohio), Mike Brown is a safety who hopes to turn some heads through the Vikings training camp. He's in a prime situation right now, as Minnesota doesn't have great depth at the safety position. Brown will have a real chance to make the final roster as long as he puts on a strong camp through the summer.

Mike Brown had an up and down collegiate career but capped it off with a strong 2021 campaign. Last season, Brown finished with 64 total tackles (9.5 for a loss), 1.5 sacks, and a forced turnover. He played a starting role in college and has the experience necessary to progress through the NFL on the Vikings roster.

However, Brown has a real chance to make team for the 2022 season. As of now, he's in direct competition with Josh Metellus to be Harrison Smith's immediate backup. Furthermore, there is a chance Mike Brown earns a role as more of a rotational backup in certain defensive packages. The Vikings are rather thin at safety, which grants a legitimate opportunity for this young rookie.

Teams typically keep three to four safety's on the active roster and the Vikings currently have six at the start of training camp. So, there will be a little camp battle throughout the summer, but based on Brown's youth and past experiences, he can definitely win a role for Minnesota's defense in 2022.

It'll be an uphill battle for Mike Brown to make the final roster though, despite the fact he's in a favorable situation. For undrafted free agents, making the team is a long shot as they typically are at the bottom of the depth chart to start their careers. Even so, all eyes will be on Brown as he has the opportunity of a lifetime to play for the Minnesota Vikings. If he can string together a solid camp, the coaching staff will have no choice but to keep him for the 2022 season.
