The Miami Dolphins had a promising season in 2020 despite missing out on the playoffs. They went 10-6 and showed their potential. This upcoming season, many people feel Miami should make the playoffs. Although the team lacks a superstar quarterback, the roster is loaded with talent.

The Dolphins are in a tough division as the Buffalo Bills are a force to be reckoned with.

While the Bills will be tough the Dolphins made moves in the offseason that will make an impact. They signed wide receiver Will Fuller V in free agency; he will be a great target for Tua Tagovailoa.

In the draft, the Dolphins selected wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who will instantly affect the offense.

Although those additions are great the Dolphins possess two hidden gems on the roster.

Dolphins hidden gems:

2. Running back Myles Gaskin

Myles Gaskin had a solid second campaign as he rushed for 584 yards while getting 388 yards receiving. Gaskin finished with 5 total touchdowns and could have a huge impact in the 2021 season. While his numbers may not be elite Gaskin was a dynamic part of the offense.

He has the ability to take on a heavy workload which is rare for a running back of his size. Gaskin is also a great receiving back which adds a wrinkle to the offense that not a ton of teams have.

Look for Gaskin to play a big part for the Dolphins this season and help lead them to the playoffs.

1. Tight end Mike Gesicki

Mike Gesicki is one of the most underrated tight ends in the NFL. He may not be George Kittle or Travis Kelce but he is a great target. Gesicki had 703 yards and 6 touchdowns in the 2020 season and could have a breakout season in 2021. It will be the quarterback Tagovailoa's second season and he will be more prepared this season.

Tons of quarterbacks have great second seasons and that could help Gesicki breakout. Gesicki has great length and route running which allows him to become an easy target for Tagovailoa. His great ball skills make him a great red-zone pass catcher.

Gesicki should have a great season and could help take the team to the playoffs.

The Dolphins are in great shape heading into the season as they have all the talent they need to make a playoff run. While they may not be looked at as a playoff team they have great coaching and a talented roster that is ready to compete.

What needs to happen for the Dolphins to make the playoffs?

To make the playoffs the Dolphins will need Tagovailoa to improve. He had a decent rookie season but he was limited by the offensive weapons he had. After the Dolphins brought in receivers Fuller V and Waddle, Tagovailoa has everything he needs to be successful.

The Dolphins have a great roster but if they make the playoffs it won't be easy to go far. The Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tennessee Titans are all extremely talented and already have playoff experience. All of those teams are proven but the Dolphins are ready to make some noise. It won't be an easy journey but with the talent and hidden gems on the roster, they are ready for anything that comes their way.

Gaskin and Gesicki are going to be key in the offensive production. They won't be the stars of the offense but rather the unsung heroes.

Look for the Dolphins to make the playoffs this season.
