The NFL season is just around the corner and the Baltimore Ravens are shaping up to be a serious Super Bowl contender. They play in a tough AFC North division, so they have their work cut out for them. For that reason, the Ravens will need the best roster possible to make a deep playoff run.
Baltimore's defense is essentially a lock to be one of the best in the league this year. Their starting lineup is set for the most part, which means there are two players on the offense who could lose their starting job this year. For that to happen, some Ravens' prospects will have to step up their game.
With JK Dobbins out for the year, Gus Edwards takes over as the starting running back. However, we'll see if he maintains that job throughout the season. The front office improved the receiving core, but a veteran could be in line to lose playing time later on. With that said, here are two Ravens first-stringers in danger of losing their starting jobs.

Ravens first-stringers to watch
Gus Edwards
The Ravens running back room took a hit after JK Dobbins fell to injury during their final preseason game. Now, Gus Edwards is in line to be the starter moving forward. However, it's important to note that the Ravens are likely to use a committee in the backfield than give Edwards all of the work.
In fact, the coaching staff seems excited about Ty'Son Williams' potential and there's a real chance the Ravens sign a veteran free agent. Baltimore spoke with Todd Gurley earlier in the offseason. Nothing came to fruition, but with Dobbins gone, there is a possible roster spot available for Gurley.
Gus Edwards will likely serve as the starting running back for now. However, with Williams also in line for some work and the potential of a veteran free agent joining the team, Edwards could lose reps throughout the course of the season. We'll see though, as he holds the starting spot rather firmly for now.
Sammy Watkins
Sammy Watkins joins the Ravens and will likely be one of the starting receivers on the team. Although he's had a rocky career, Watkins can still be a solid receiver for Baltimore. However, there is a young prospect lurking on the depth chart who could take starting reps away from Watkins later in the season.
Rashod Bateman is currently injured and unavailable. However, he has the tools necessary to be the Ravens top wideout for years to come. Hopefully, he becomes healthy sooner rather than later as the Ravens need Bateman to improve their receiver group. For now, Sammy Watkins is the starter, but Bateman is knocking on the door of opportunity once he returns.
Until then, look for Watkins and Marquise Brown to serve as the main two passing options for the Baltimore Ravens. It's been a tough training camp for Baltimore, but they're moving forward with a solid lineup top to bottom. Regardless of who the starting receivers are, the Ravens should be a playoff contender in 2021.
