Quite a few teams in the NFL have discovered that the running back position is extremely expendable in recent seasons. Despite the current state of the running back position, JK Dobbins could be an absolute steal for the team that selects him in the 2020 NFL Draft.

With two months to go until the draft, there aren't many teams that are going to target a running back in the first round. At most, there could be one or two running backs taken near the end of the first round. That doesn't mean that there aren't talented running backs available.

Among the incoming prospects at running back, Dobbins is near the top of the list in terms of talent. Teams that are in need of a running back are undoubtedly going to target taking the Ohio State running back.

In his three seasons at Ohio State, Dobbins was extremely consistent with his production. Altogether, Dobbins combined for 4,459 rushing yards with 6.2 yards per attempt and 38 rushing touchdowns.

To go along with rushing numbers, Dobbins also flashed potential as a receiving threat with 71 receptions, 645 yards, and another five scores in his collegiate career. This season alone, Dobbins cemented his name in Buckeye history after a historic junior campaign.

The dynamic running back finished the 2019 season with 2,003 rushing yards on 301 attempts and found the end zone a total of 23 times. By rushing for 2,003 yards, Dobbins surpassed Eddie George for the single-season record in rushing yards in Ohio State history.

During his time in college, JK Dobbins proved that he's capable of handling a bell-cow role in the NFL. The versatile running back possesses all of the skills that are required to be effective in the NFL. At 5-foot-10, 217 pounds, Dobbins is a tough-nosed runner that is also elusive in the open field.

Of course, some teams are going to be wary of selecting Dobbins due to his heavy usage in college. However, even with a heavy workload, Dobbins hasn't had any injury issues thus far.

In addition, the every-down back hasn't shown any wear and tear on the field. If anything, Dobbins looked more and more fresh as his collegiate career progressed.

With the situations involving Todd Gurley and David Johnson, NFL franchises are hesitant to employ an expensive running back.

For instance, the Kansas City Chiefs just won a Super Bowl with Damien Williams—an undrafted running back—starting in their backfield. Ironically, the Chiefs are a team that could be intrigued by the option of drafting Dobbins.

Unless Dobbins goes early in the first round, he'll be a massive steal in the 2020 NFL Draft.
