With bye weeks quickly starting to kick in, the minimal amount of solid running backs will continue to dwindle as the weeks roll on. With Week 6 and Week 7 introducing fantasy football owners to perhaps the toughest portion of the season due to these early bye weeks with running backs still trying to hit their stride from a general standpoint as well, this may be a very tough week for many while finding the right players to insert into your lineup at this premier position could make or break the week.

Although there are some no-brainers this time around, there are also some fantasy football decisions here that could be a bit risky or could very well pay off in a big way. This will be an interesting week and one that is certainly not the easiest to forecast.

Start ‘Em

Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

This obviously doesn't even need to be explicitly said at this point, but if Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has a pulse, he should be in your fantasy football starting lineup regardless of who the opponent is. With the Kansas City Chiefs serving as somewhat human this season, it will be interesting to see how the two-time defending AFC champions handle the Titans offense — one that could be without superstar wide receiver Julio Jones — and more specifically Henry. Henry is leading the league in rushing yards and touchdowns — by far — this season and absolutely dismantled the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. With the Bills possessing one of the better defenses and run defenses in the entire league, there is no reason that Henry doesn't tear up the Chiefs as well.

Darrell Henderson Jr., Los Angeles Rams

Simply put — the Detroit Lions are one of the worst teams in recent memory and are no doubt the worst team in the NFL this season. Heading into Week 7, Detroit can't seem to do anything right while playing poorly in every facet of the game. Whether it is on offense, defense or special teams, the Lions have continually been outmatched through the first six weeks of the 2021-22 regular season while Week 7 against the surging Los Angeles Rams will be no different. Every single available Rams player can pretty much start on most fantasy football teams this week; running back Darrell Henderson Jr. is definitely no exception.

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers

The Washington Football Team has one of the best defensive fronts in all of football. However, this unit hasn't truly played up to its potential this season; future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are up next on the schedule. With Rodgers sure to throw the football all around the field, while especially targeting All-Pro wide out Davante Adams, perhaps Packers running back Aaron Jones can encounter a big day on the ground with Washington so preoccupied with Green Bay's prolific passing attack. Fantasy football owners, take note.

Sit ‘Em

Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are a confusing bunch this time around while the Las Vegas Raiders have managed to fall into a very similar category over the course of the last few weeks. Because the Eagles, and more specifically, the team's offense is so unpredictable this season, running back Miles Sanders has become a questionable fantasy football play in Week 7. With the Raiders possessing a stout defense, including up front, Sanders likely won't receive much of an opportunity to stand out in Week 7 while failing to do so all year long thus far.

Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos

There are two key factors in staying away from Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon in Week 7. The first is the fact that the Broncos and Cleveland Browns will be squaring off on Thursday Night Football with Thursday serving as the most ridiculous and most unpredictable day on the NFL schedule on what seems like a very regular basis. The second reason is a much more glaring one for fantasy football owners: Rookie running back Javonte Williams continues to slowly emerge as a legitimately important piece of the puzzle for the Broncos offense. With Williams emerging more and more week by week and the Broncos taking on the Browns on Thursday evening, Gordon is just not the best option this time around.

Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are currently the best team in the AFC at 5-1 while the surging AFC North franchise is also next up for the Cincinnati Bengals. With second-year quarterback Joe Burrow really coming into his own this season with the Bengals signal caller possessing all sorts of weapons at wide receiver and tight end, the team's best bet at pulling off the upset over Baltimore will surely be spreading the football around and airing it out. The Ravens are especially dangerous up front on defense, which won't bode well for Bengals running back Joe Mixon. While this might be a controversial decision, depending on the options you have, it may be best for fantasy football owners to steer clear of Mixon in Week 7 with a tough Ravens team lining up against him.
