The 2021-22 PGA TOUR season will make its next stop at Memorial Park Golf Course down in Houston, where the 2021 Houston Open will take place. Last year, Carlos Ortiz took home the victory by two strokes over runner-ups Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama. For his win, Ortiz pocketed a cool sum of $1.26 million. The winner of the 2021 Houston Open is set to get a much bigger share of the purse, which balloons from $7 million in 2020 to $7.5 million this year.  With all that said, let’s now dive into this 2021 Houston Open odds, prediction, and pick piece.

Favorites to win 2021 Houston Open odds

Sam Burns(+1600).  Burns arrives at the Memorial Park Golf Course on quite a streak. He is 3 of 3 so far this season, which he kicked off by winning the Sanderson Farms Championship back in early October. He then followed that up with a T-14 at the Shriners Children Open. In his last start, he shot no worse than a 67 in each of the four rounds at THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT on his way to a T-5 finish.  The 25-year-old Burns is clearly on a groove and is out to redeem himself since falling short of a win in the last edition of the Houston Open wherein he faltered in the final round with a 72 to conclude the tournament seventh overall.

Scottie Scheffler (+1800).  Scheffler began his season on a sour note, missing the weekend festivities at the Shriners Children's Open back in October, but he appeared to have rounded into prime form over his next two starts. First, he made his first cut of the season at THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT with a T-38, where he also earned his first FedExCup points. He followed that up with a solo fourth finish at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba after skipping the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP and the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. The Texas Longhorns product, who is currently fifth on the TOUR with a 77.78 greens in regulations percentage, has three top 3s and 16 top 10s in 66 PGA TOUR career starts since he turned pro in 2018.

Sungjae Im (+2000).  Winner of two career PGA TOUR events, including the one that he just won at the Shriners Children's Open last October, Im is out to erase the bitter taste from his mouth brought by his letdown performance at the 2020 edition of the Houston Open (50th). And based on his recent form, it seems that now is a great time for his fans to believe that he’s going to come away with a victory at Memorial Park. After winning at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Im got a T-9 at THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT before taking a long break.

Sleepers to win 2021 Houston Open odds

Shane Lowry (+6000).  Lowry looks like a great buy-low guy. He’s off to a bad start this season, as he finished with a T-54 at THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT. He tried to rebound at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba but instead ended up missing the cut. But at +6000, Lowry is worth a punt. He might start to turn things around at Memorial Park, where he finished with a T-11 during the 2020 Houston Open. Last season, Lowry also made the cut in 19 of 21 PGA TOUR starts and cracked the top 10 four times and the top 25 10 times.

Branden Grace (+7500).  Last season was a roller-coaster ride for the South African, as Grace made the cut in 17 of his 27 PGA TOUR starts and finished inside the top 10 four times, which included a win at the Puerto Rico Open. This season, he is 2 for 2. He went T-68 at THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT and rebounded strongly with a T-7 at the ZOZO Championship.

Final 2021 Houston Open Prediction & Pick

Not going to get cute with my pick here. I’m going with who’s got the hot hand, and that’s Sam Burns, whose performance in the last Houston Open combined with his recent results point to a great week ahead.
