The league decided to pay tribute to the late Kentucky standout Terrence Clarke with an honorary draft pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The Kentucky standout tragically passed away in a car accident in April where his dreams of playing in the league instantly got crushed. Today, through his family, Terrence Clarke gets to live that life-long dream.

Here's commissioner Adam Silver making the honorary pick official (via NBA):

“His extraordinary talent, commitment, and dedication to the game deserve to be recognized on this stage,” Silver said. “It is my honor to now announce that with the next pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the NBA selects Terrence Clarke from the University of Kentucky.”

Clarke was a projected first-round pick in this upcoming draft after his one-year stint as a Wildcat. The 19-year-old averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 dimes per game in his six starts before declaring for the NBA Draft last March – one month before he passed away.

Rest in power, Terrence Clarke. It is nice to see that even after you're gone that your friends, colleagues and loved ones can give you love during the 2021 NBA Draft.
