After the first weekend of the College World Series, we’ve seen two schools, Texas and Stanford, get eliminated from national championship contention. Now, in their second elimination game in a row, the Texas A&M Aggies face a Notre Dame Fighting Irish outright fresh off a comfortable defeat to Oklahoma on Monday. Both teams will be playing for their season, with the knowledge the winner will have to defeat Oklahoma twice to make it to the final series. Let's get right to the Texas A&M-Notre Dame prediction and pick.

Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M Prediction

There you have it, the oddsmakers seem to like the Fighting Irish, and that's even reflected in the overall championship odds, where Notre Dame currently sit +1200 and the Aggies sit at +1400. Just as a refresher, both teams have played two games in Omaha so far, with Notre Dame beating Texas 7-3 before falling to the aforementioned Oklahoma 6-2 on Monday. Texas A&M was put in jeopardy much earlier, with an opening-round 13-8 loss to Oklahoma before bouncing back and eliminating Lone Star Showdown rival Texas 10-2. So which bets can you look to if you're on the prowl for some cash?

Notre Dame moneyline follows the trend of lower-seeded teams winning every game thus far set over the first weekend in Omaha. At -140 it's a good starting place for parlays, but even oddsmakers don't count the Aggies out fully. Perhaps Notre Dame's victory over number one seed Tennessee in the Super Regionals is still fresh on their mind, but if you're a fan of trends, bet on the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame -1.5 runs is another good bet on the Irish, and this time at much more favorable odds of +134. Of Notre Dame's eight postseason games so far in this title chase, only two have been decided by fewer than two runs, all the way back in regionals twice against Texas Tech. Further to that point, no game in the College World Series so far, of which there have been a further eight, has been decided by fewer than four runs. This all sets up for a comfortable result either way, but again, trends dictate it seems likely it's Notre Dame on top.

Over 14.5 runs may initially seem like a bad bet, given the defensive prowess both teams have shown this postseason, but it's worth noting that in Omaha, Texas A&M has notched totals of eight and 10 runs respectively, while Notre Dame tallied seven of their own against Texas. Even counting full postseasons, Notre Dame has scored at least six runs in four of their eight postseason games, while Texas A&M has done so in five of seven, and the Aggies actually scored at least eight in all of them to boot.

Five of the eight College World Series games so far have combined for 10 or more runs, and Charles Schwab Field has proved very conducive to home runs this past weekend as well. Look for runs galore no matter who comes out on top, especially considering both teams will be forced to look deeper into their starting rotations, both teams having played two games very recently.

Notre Dame vs Texas A&M Prediction: Notre Dame -1.5 (+134)
