A cigar lounge in Texas made headlines a couple weeks back for their controversial decision to use Colin Kaepernick's jersey as a doormat in response to his recent protest. Now, a restaurant in Virginia Beach is following suit.
A resident of the city, James Perry, took a photo of the doormat at the Krossroads Rock and Country Bar and posted it to his Facebook page with a message urging people not to go there:
The general manager of the bar refuted the assertion that his decision to tape the jersey down was based on race. From WTKR:
He told us taping the jersey down was about sportsmanship and Kaepernick's disrespect of the flag – not race.
