The 2021/22 Bundesliga campaign is in full swing after an exciting summer across Germany. Reigning champions Bayern Munich look poised to win another title after strengthening their squad even more with the additions of Leipzig duo Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer. Dortmund meanwhile was able to keep their prized possession in Erling Haaland while adding a promising young talent in former PSV Eindhoven standout Donyell Malen to make up for the departure of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United. Lastly, Andre Silva joined Leipzig after a tremendous Bundesliga season last term where he bagged a career-high in goals.

That being said, here are the best three signings in the summer transfer window in Germany's top flight.

Marcel Sabitzer, Bayern

It looked set in stone that Sabitzer would stay at RB Leipzig until Bayern swooped in and hijacked the Austrian at the end of the transfer window. Sabitzer inked a four-year deal with the Bundesliga title-holders on a €16 million move. Julian Nagelsmann took over the reins in Munich this term after previously serving as the boss of Leipzig and he clearly played a vital part in bringing his former player to the Allianz Arena.

Sabitzer adds much-needed depth in the middle of the park for Bayern. As of right now, their first-choice pairing is Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich but past the two Germans, there isn't a lot of options. Corentin Tolisso is in the mix, but he's been dealing with numerous injuries over the last few years.

Sabitzer will undoubtedly slot in and compete for minutes for Nagelsmann. He's a true box-to-box midfielder but the Austria international brings slightly more attacking prowess to the Bundesliga giants than Kimmich. Sabitzer averages a goal every 186 minutes and also adds a lot of creativity to the squad. The 27-year-old is even capable of playing out on the right if needed, but if Jamal Musiala's emergence continues, Sabitzer won't likely play out wide.

Nevertheless, this is a valuable signing for Bayern. Sabitzer bagged eight goals and tallied three assists in 2020/21 for Leipzig and is versatile enough to contribute in a variety of ways for Nagelsmann. Competition for playing time will be fierce, but Sabitzer has more than enough quality to be a key piece in his former manager's plans this season as they aim to win their 11th straight Bundesliga trophy.

Andre Silva, RB Leipzig

While Sabitzer doesn't exactly play up top, he was an important factor in Leipzig's attack. The addition of Andre Silva in July was huge for Jesse Marsch's squad, giving them a clinical figure in the final third who is coming off the best season of his career. The Portuguese international was firing on all cylinders in 2020/21, netting 28 times in just 32 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, finishing behind only Robert Lewandowski in the Golden Boot race. He was a massive reason the Eagles finished just one point shy of a Champions League spot. In total, he scored 45 goals in 71 competitive appearances for the club, proving just how lethal he can be. While Frankfurt will be disappointed to see Silva leave, he is already proving his worth to Leipzig.

In three appearances thus far, the former AC Milan striker has a goal and an assist to his name. He's a true No. 9 who has an appetite for finding the back of the net. The majority of his goals last season came inside of the 18-yard box as well because of his sense of being in dangerous positions at all times. Silva possesses impressive pace and is truly a complete striker who can finish with both feet or his head, evident by the types of goals he scored in 2020/21.

We're in a day and age where strikers need to be more than just finishers and Silva absolutely fits the bill. He's also gifted when it comes to picking out a pass and supplying assists, tallying five of them with the Eagles. Silva's versatility in the final third is already shining through with Leipzig, who will be looking to contend with Bayern for the Bundesliga title. Leipzig got a good one in Andre Silva, who is in the form of his life.

Donyell Malen, Dortmund

Although there's a notable difference between the Eredivisie and the Bundesliga, Malen was one of the best players in the Netherlands last season. That led to a high-profile move to Borussia Dortmund, who signed the Dutch international to a four-year contract. Malen was absolutely clinical for PSV Eindhoven last term, firing home 19 goals and tallying eight assists. In all competitions, he netted 27 times. His impressive form carried over to Euro 2020, where the youngster set up two goals for the Netherlands.

While Malen served as PSV's main man up top, he's being deployed on the left for Dortmund. With Sancho taking his talents to Old Trafford, the 22-year-old gives the Bundesliga giants another attacking threat who is happy enough to supply assists for Haaland. Malen is technically gifted and possesses the ability to make dangerous runs in behind defenders thanks to his speed. It's even possible that Rose chooses to use Malen as a strike partner with Haaland, which brings a different dynamic to Dortmund's attack because of their respective skillsets.

Malen is yet to score or assist in the Bundesliga and to be honest, it might take him a season to get accustomed to a new league that is superior to the Eredivisie. But in the long run, Donyell Malen should prove to be a staple in Dortmund's squad as the club eyes Bundesliga superiority once again.
