The NFL continues to be a pass-oriented league, thus prompting teams to make the cornerback position a priority in the offseason. That is exactly why Chris Harris Jr. should see a handful of teams clamoring to sign him in free agency.

Since 2011, Harris has been a cornerstone of the Denver Broncos defense, mainly spending his time in the slot. However, due to the changes on the roster in recent years, Harris was asked to spend more time on the outside in 2019.

But after letting him finish his contract, the Broncos haven't shown any signs of re-signing Harris this offseason. As a result, Harris has said that ‘that door's pretty much been closed' pertaining to a return to Denver.

With Harris expected to find a new home in 2020, there are going to be a few contenders that pursue him in free agency. In light of that, here are the three best free agency destinations for Harris this offseason.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Last offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs signed Tyrann Mathieu, Bashaud Breeland, and Morris Claiborne in hopes to improve the secondary. While Mathieu and Breeland became key contributors on defense, the Chiefs were able to secure a Super Bowl victory this past season.

When free agency kicks off, Kansas City is in jeopardy of losing Breeland, Claiborne, and Kendall Fuller to another team. Given that, Harris could be a pivotal piece to a defense that could see some moving parts this offseason.

Before the Chiefs can become a possible landing spot for Harris, they must make a decision on Chris Jones. If Kansas City chooses to let Jones walk, then Harris could become a prime target for the Chiefs.

Also, Mathieu has apparently been lobbying for Harris to sign with the Chiefs this offseason. There's no doubt that Chris Harris Jr. would be fond of playing his former team twice a year with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

Before the 2019 season even began, it was evident that the Philadelphia Eagles were going to have an issue in their secondary. Due to the lack of consistency in the secondary, most people believed that the Eagles would make a move ahead of the deadline.

On the contrary, Philadelphia held firm and proceeded with the guys they had on the roster. But after having the 19th ranked pass defense in 2019, the Eagles need to address the cornerback position this offseason.

In recent seasons, the Eagles have had a tendency of adding proven veterans in free agency. With that in mind, Harris is an ideal fit for a Philadelphia team that could use some assurance in the secondary. As a matter of fact, the Eagles considered making a move for Harris this past season.

1. Houston Texans

Lastly, the Houston Texans are another team that should be in the market for a cornerback this offseason. Over the course of the 2019 season, the Texans acquired Gareon Conley in a trade and claimed Vernon Hargreaves off of waivers.

Not too long ago, Houston released Hargreaves and Conley is an unrestricted free agent. Also, Bradley Roby could be joining Conley in free agency if the Texans choose not to re-sign him.

Of the three teams listed, the Texans have the most cap space to work with. Seeing that Harris could receive one huge payday, Houston gives him the best chance of getting the contract he wants.

Additionally, the Texans give Harris an opportunity to be a contender in the AFC.
