Given his current status with the Toronto Raptors, it's becoming more likely that Kyle Lowry will be looking for a new home in NBA free agency.

It would not be anything that's considered cruel and cowardly on his part by any means, especially when you factor in that Kyle Lowry helped deliver the Raptors their first title just a few years ago.

He also put forth an all-out effort in last year's playoffs bringing them within one game of returning to the eastern conference finals. Even prior to his recent successes with the team, Kyle Lowry stuck with the Raptors through thick and thin and lead them to many deep playoff runs prior to their championship season.

Arguably the greatest Toronto Raptors player ever, the time for Kyle Lowry to move on has come. With a rebuild on the possible horizon and his free agency looming, the next chapter of his illustrious playing career will likely be with a title contender. With that said, let's take a closer look at the contenders that would be the best fit for him.

Kyle Lowry destinations:

Philadelphia 76ers

During the trade deadline this season, this was a move that nearly happened. Even though it fell through, it's a move that still makes sense for the Sixers to pursue. This is a team that could desperately use another playmaking threat in their backcourt. In Kyle Lowry, they'd have the perfect complement to Ben Simmons, and with Lowry running the point, this would allow them to move Simmons to small forward.

Plus they would have a backcourt of Lowry and Curry to provide plenty of scoring, defense, and clutch playmaking for their big man tandem of Embiid and Simmons. This also would open the floor to make way for Ben Simmons' drives and strong finishes at the rim and it would also allow Embiid to play his inside-out game more efficiently.

Lastly, Lowry would provide this team with veteran leadership and a championship pedigree to help keep them motivated and provide them with well-rounded, tenacious, and defensive-minded clutch play. With a starting five of Lowry, Curry, Simmons, Harris, and Embiid, they'd definitely have a case as the next team to beat in the eastern conference. Plus what would better than seeing the Philly native finish out his career by helping win a title for his hometown team?

Miami Heat

With Dragic and Nunn set to the free agent market this summer, the Miami Heat will be in dire need of a veteran playmaker. Kyle Lowry would be the perfect addition to this team, given he already has a good standing relationship with Jimmy Butler off the court and has a style of play that fits perfectly with the Heat culture.

With Lowry's aggressive and team-oriented two-way style of play, this is a signing that makes too much sense. His no non-sense approach to the game would bring great on-court chemistry to the Heat and help keep their young guys motivated and on the right track. A pick-and-roll game with Kyle Lowry and Bam Adebayo would be a nightmare for opposing defenses.

While on the other hand, he and Butler would provide lights out defense on the perimeter. Just a year removed from their last finals appearance, this is an organization looking to bounce back huge next season and with the addition of Kyle Lowry this would be a step back in the right direction.

Los Angeles Lakers

Just a year removed from their historic championship run, the Los Angeles Lakers are in desperate need of help at point guard. With Schroder and Caruso hitting free agency and seeking bigger paydays, the Lakers will have to look elsewhere for a clutch point guard who is well established as a strong performer in the postseason.

Enter Kyle Lowry, a combo guard with a high defensive IQ and a championship pedigree. On the Lakers, Lowry could form a scary trio with James and Davis, giving them an extra boost and new life in their quest for another title. Their ball movement would be more fluid and they'd be able to run stronger defensive sets with a veteran presence like Lowry on the floor.

In James' and Davis' journey for another ring, Kyle Lowry would be just the right guy to provide them with the help they need at point guard.
