The Philadelphia 76ers officially have a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Well, at least they do once the 23rd pick is made and transferred to them via the Stepien Rule. Despite attaching the selection to the trade for James Harden, the Brooklyn Nets held the option to defer the pick to 2023. With the draft class perceived to be stronger and the hopes the selection would be better, the Nets elected to do just this.

For the Sixers, this is great news. Their roster has several notable tweaks needed and limited assets to make it happen. While there are several prospects in the range of the 23rd pick that fit the needs of the Sixers, the franchise must keep all options on the table. Especially given Doc Rivers' reluctance to play young players, it does not seem likely the missing piece will be found in the draft. Daryl Morey has been a general manager known for being active on the trade market and this season should be expected to be no different. If a top prospect is falling or a team is hoping to get back into the draft, the Sixers will likely be one of the first looking to capitalize. Here are three trades to keep an eye on built around the Number 23 pick.

3 best Sixers trades using Number 23 pick in 2022 NBA Draft

Sixers Get: Eric Gordon, Jae'Sean Tate

Rockers Get: 23rd pick, Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz, Charles Bassey

Eric Gordon was a notable free-agent signing during Daryl Morey's time in Houston and would benefit the Sixers now. The 33-year-old was a perfect fit on the James Harden-led Rockets then, and would be a great fit on the Joel Embiid and James Harden-led Sixers now. Gordon shot 41.2% from beyond the arc on 5.9 attempts last season. The corner specialist would space the floor effectively and be a solid complementary addition.

Adding Jae'Sean Tate would also be a terrific addition to the Sixers. The 26-year-old has started the past two seasons averaging 11.6 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. He is a below-average three-point shooter but would add a necessary pop of athleticism to the roster.

With Danny Green's contract non-guaranteed for next season, he essentially serves as a salary cap placeholder in this deal. The veteran does not fit the timeline of the Rockets window and likely will be released. This will allow him to find a place on a contender like he presumably desires.

The main attraction here for the Rockets would be the 23rd pick. Charles Bassey would also be a solid potential long-term piece. The Western Kentucky product has an ideal size and style for a modern center but has not been given the opportunity with the Sixers. The Rockets are beginning to build its identity with Jalen Green and whoever they select with the third overall pick set to serve as the centerpieces. Gordon does not fit the timeline and, while Tate is a solid young piece, likely isn't a piece of the long-term future.

Sixers Get: PJ Washington

Hornets Get: 23rd pick

The Charlotte Hornets are developing a solid young core that is beginning to take the next step. One guy who may be getting squeezed in the rotation is PJ Washington. The 23-year-old was taken out as the regular starter last season and played the fewest minutes in his three seasons in the NBA. Washington averaged 10.3 points and 5.2 rebounds which were both also career-lows. While he is a fine rotational piece, flipping him for a guy who could become a bigger piece of their long-term future could be worth a gamble.

Charlotte has several players with a similar skillset to PJ Washington but the same cannot be said about the Sixers. Philly's roster is starved for athleticism and versatility. PJ Washington would provide a necessary boost in this regard and he is also a career 37.5% three-point shooter. This is the exact type of deal Daryl Morey should be looking to capitalize on as Washington would make a major impact with the Sixers.

Sixers Get: Jonathan Isaac, 2023 Second Round Pick

Magic Get: 23rd pick, Charles Bassey, Furkan Korkmaz, Danny Green

The Orlando Magic have also done a great job developing a promising young core. One guy who has been able to truly be a part of this development is Jonathan Isaac. The 24-year-old has not played a game since the 2019-20 season. Isaac has been held out due to a torn ACL which he tore in August of 2020. He also was forced to undergo hamstring surgery during his rehab.

The versatile forward had a slow start to his career but was showing progress before the injury. The absence has been somewhat abnormally long and there has been growing concern about the lack of updates. If the Magic are concerned about his long-term future, this trade would make a lot of sense. The Magic hold the first overall pick in the draft and would have an opportunity to add another rookie. Charles Bassey is also a desirable prospect who has an NBA future.

This would be a riskier move for the Sixers but one that could pay off. Isaac stands 6'11” but is a versatile defender. In the last season he was active he averaged 11.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks. He would fill a lot of the gaps the Sixers are missing defensively. He may not have developed into the potential star he once was expected to be, but Isaac still has the potential to have a positive NBA career. Allowing him to have a clean slate in Philadelphia could prove to be very beneficial.
