After a productive season with the Houston Rockets in which he averaged 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists while shooting 40.4 percent from the field, John Wall is expected to be on the trading block this offseason.
Now that the Rockets are transitioning to a full-on rebuild, Wall no longer fits into their plans. Given that he no longer fits the direction of this young Rockets team and he's seeking to get back on a playoff contender in win-now mode, Wall is hoping to get a change of scenery come next season.
Having bounced back huge this past season, Wall showed that he still has plenty left in the tank and can play a vital role on a title contender. Los Angeles Lakers
A team that's in desperate need of all the help that they can get and looking to re-tool and bounce back huge next season, the Los Angeles Lakers would be an ideal trade destination for John Wall. As a lightning-quick slasher and playmaker with a sound defensive presence, Wall would be the perfect complement to LeBron James and Anthony Davis at the point guard spot.
Wall would be able to provide more scoring opportunities for James and Davis by lessening their playmaking load and giving them a more efficient transition offense. With the Lakers looking to make another deep playoff run next season, adding an All-Star caliber point guard in John Wall would give them another reliable veteran whose prior postseason experience would pay huge dividends for them.
Dallas Mavericks
Another team looking to bounce back big next year with a revamped roster, the Dallas Mavericks are looking to do all they can to add more talent around franchise superstar Luka Doncic. In John Wall they would get an electric two-way point guard that could give the Mavericks a formidable backcourt.
Having Wall on their roster gives them another strong playmaker that can help lessen Doncic's offensive load and give them much-need depth at the point guard spot. This move would also give them an exciting new duo with Wall and Doncic that could lead Dallas to a surprise playoff run next season.
New York Knicks
Arguably the biggest need for this up-and-coming New York Knicks squad is an experienced point guard who can run their offense and elevate the play of their young stars. With John Wall at the helm, the Knicks would be able to run a more fluid offense and give them another option at point guard outside of Derrick Rose who could create more opportunities for their young stars in Julius Randle and RJ Barrett.
Wall would also thrive in Tom Thibodeau's defensive sets with his scrappy and aggressive style of defense. If the Knicks want to make some noise in the Eastern Conference next season, then this would be a smart move for them to make. It would also allow them to build off of last year's success and give them the chance to win a playoff series for the first time in over 20 years.
