Spencer Dinwiddie and the Washington Wizards have fallen off after their hot start to the season. Washington sits in 10th place in the Eastern Conference at 23-25 and is fighting to hold a spot in the play-in tournament after a historic 35-point collapse against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night. The Wizards are losers of four straight games and have a lot of work to do if they want to make the playoffs.

Dinwiddie, who was acquired in the offseason, has appeared in trade rumors, with some around the NBA thinking Washington is open to a deal. Dinwiddie was part of the Russell Westbrook five-team trade that sent Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dinwiddie has struggled to get going after returning from a torn ACL last season. He's averaging 13.3 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists. Dinwiddie has shot a poor efficiency at 38.8 percent overall and 31.4 percent from behind the arc.

It is yet to be known if the Wizards will be buyers or sellers, but Dinwiddie would likely generate interest. The 28-year-old guard could be the missing piece for a contender, especially in an offense that can maximize his efficiency. There have also been rumors about Washington going after Detroit Pistons star Jerami Grant, and perhaps Dinwiddie could be used in that type of deal.

With all this said, here are the three best trade destinations for Wizards point guard Spencer Dinwiddie.

Spencer Dinwiddie Trade Destinations

3. Boston Celtics

The Celtics have long been in search of a point guard, and Dennis Schroder has not been the answer. Schroder has not been a great fit and could be dealt at the deadline. He is not a bad player but isn't super effective off the ball.

A trade for Spencer Dinwiddie would give them a better fit in their system as he plays well off the ball. Boston was reportedly interested in him in free agency before he was dealt to Washington.

With two ball-dominant players in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, the Celtics need to add a point guard who can still run the offense but be effective off the ball at times.

He may not be an elite playmaker, but he is a solid all-around player. Dinwiddie may not be the long-term solution for their point guard problems but would be a welcomed addition to the team.

2. Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers are another team that was pursuing Dinwiddie in free agency. While the Clippers haven't achieved expectations, a lot of that is due to Paul George and Kawhi Leonard's injuries. They are the ninth seed in the Western Conference and could use more solid players to build back toward being a contender.

Spencer Dinwiddie would be a great fit next to George and Leonard when they return (whenever that is), and his efficiency would likely jump up. He can score at all three levels and have any impact on every facet of the game.

Dinwiddie would fit well in Ty Lue's system alongside their two stars. His scoring and playmaking punch could help them become a better team this season and over the next couple of years.

1. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have also been in search of a point guard to play off young superstar Luka Doncic. Doncic is having another phenomenal season, averaging 25.6 points per game along with 8.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists. His ability to impact the game in many ways offensively makes him one of the best players in the NBA.

The 22-year-old superstar has failed to make it past the first round of the playoffs in his career, with not enough talent around him.

Spencer Dinwiddie's talent would be maximized next to Doncic, as he could play well off him. Doncic is a master at finding open teammates, which would allow Dinwiddie to get better looks offensively.

Bradley Beal is a natural-born scorer and not a playmaker, which is why Dinwiddie's efficiency has gone down. He would get more open shots and bring a bit more juice to an offense that could use it.

The Wizards may keep Dinwiddie, but these teams should make an offer for him as the deadline approaches. They have to make decisions on the future of their franchise as the current roster construction won't yield a title or maybe even a playoff spot.
