The fanbase has been somewhat frustrated with how the front office has approached this offseason. With Justin Fields still developing as a young quarterback, he needs weapons around him to help him succeed. So far, the Chicago Bears have put most of their attention on the defensive side of the ball. However, the franchise should highly consider acquiring another receiver with the summer quickly approaching. We look at three trade targets for the Bears to complete their 2022 roster.

Chicago has set themselves up nicely for the 2023 offseason, however, it feels like the franchise has opted to essentially punt the upcoming season. Even so, the team will rely on the defense and run game to remain competitive in the NFC North. If the Bears can find a way to trade for a veteran receiver, their chances of competing will drastically increase.

Darnell Mooney has proven to be consistent so far in his career, but having another pass option on the field will only make the Bears a better team. We'll see if the front office can put together a strong enough package to improve the wide receiver room. If not, then it might be a long year for Justin Fields and Chicago.

With that in mind, here are three potential trade targets for the Bears to round out their 2022 roster.

Bears Trade Targets To Complete 2022 Roster

3. Kenny Golladay

This might seem like an odd suggestion but hear me out. Kenny Golladay signed a monster deal with the New York Giants and essentially didn't do anything in the first year with the club. Additionally, New York made some moves in an attempt to improve the wide receiver room as well. Considering this franchise is restructuring the roster, the Bears might be able to swoop in and trade for Golladay.

Chicago can afford Kenny Golladay's contract. Additionally, he'd easily be a top-two pass option on this offense. With a new coaching scheme and Justin Fields showing improvement himself, the Bears would benefit from adding a receiver like Golladay. It's a long shot, but it's a move the front office should highly consider.

2. Brandin Cooks

Another option would be Brandin Cooks. He's been a phenomenal wide receiver throughout his career and would be a great addition to Chicago. The Bears would suddenly have two legitimate pass options in Cooks and Mooney with Cole Kmet potentially taking the next step in development as well. Although the Houston Texans just re-signed the star wideout, they could still opt to trade him in the summer.

Adding a player like Brandin Cooks would make the Bears an intriguing team to start the season. The 2022 roster would have two solid targets at wide receiver, an exciting prospect tight end, and a dangerous run game. Chicago isn't too far away from being a contender in the NFC North, as Cooks would improve the offense immediately. If the front office can acquire him, then this wide receiver group looks substantially better on paper.

1. Deebo Samuel

The rumors swirling around Deebo Samuel's trade request have died down a tad, but they could ramp back up in June. There has been no word of the San Francisco 49ers re-signing their superstar receiver. With that in mind, now is the time for the Bears to make a massive move. Samuel is a versatile weapon who will surely help Chicago's offense immediately.

The front office has the draft capital and the cap space to get this deal finalized. They can offer the 49ers a deal they can't refuse while signing Deebo Samuel to a long-term deal. Furthermore, Justin Fields would have an elite weapon at the helm while Darnell Mooney becomes an extremely high second option. Look for the Bears to at least make a phone call, as acquiring Samuel makes Chicago an exciting team for the upcoming season.
